Comedy for Cure and Care - Mikey Robins

The Leukaemia Foundation's Comedy for Cure and Care is proud to present the hilarious Mikey Robins in a stand-up comedy show in Bunbury.

Starting out in cabaret as part of iconic Australian sketch group Castanet Club, subject of the 1991 cult film, Mikey Robins made the transition to radio and television to become one of Australia's best-loved, intelligent and in-demand entertainers on the strength of his clever observations, quick one-liners and brilliant, biting banter.

Mikey spent seven years behind the microphone as the host of Triple J's national breakfast show before becoming a team leader and audience favourite on high rating Good News Week and its various franchises.

On radio Mikey has also worked for ABC radio, triple j, Vega, and Triple M and where he currently co-hosts Merrick… and Australia weekly with Merrick Watts- while his other television appearances include Co-Host of Studio 10, The Jesters, You Have Been Watching and regular guest spots on Sunrise, Spicks and Specks and The Fat.

ABCTV featured Mikey in an episode of Australian Story, it went on to become one the highest rating episodes of this high quality program.

Mikey's also devised and hosted a series of documentaries about Australians and their favourite pubs for Channel 10 - leading to episodes being filmed overseas - and fronted shows for the Foxtel network, including Campaign and Hollywood Head To Head.

Mikey's co-authored the books Three Beers and a Chinese Meal (with Helen Razor) and Big Man's World (with Tony Squires and The Sandman) and written columns for The Daily Telegraph, GQ and Men's Style.

Now Mikey has added stand up comedy to his long list of achievements and has performed at the Melbourne and Sydney Comedy Festivals. In 2011 Mikey traveled to Afghanistan to entertain Australian troops, a moving experience which he recounted in a special piece for Australia's Number One men's fashion magazine, Men's Style.

The funds raised from the Comedy for Cure and Care will help fund the comprehensive range of free services the Leukaemia Foundation provides for people with blood cancer and their families.
