The first four comedians have been announced for this year's Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow, which is heading to BREC for two massive shows on Friday 29 & Saturday 30 May!
Be prepared for laughs aplenty these beloved comedians are let loose onto the open road. Fifteen years and still going strong, the Roadshow will feature some of the best home-grown local talent and international superstars from the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, and will be heading to over 75 destinations across Australia - all packaged up and delivered to your door for an unforgettable night of untamed hilarity.
The four comedians on the bill so far are:
DeAnne Smith (Canada)
DeAnne Smith, a three-time Canadian Comedy Award nominee (2011, 2012, 2013) has performed all over the world, including the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, the Iceland Comedy Festival and Just for Laughs Montreal and Chicago to name a few. She's also been on TV in four countries, including on Last Comic Standing NBC, The Late Late Show on CBS, Canada's The Comedy Network and CBC, Australia's Channel 10 and ABC, and UK's Sky TV. It's hard to know what to put in a bio, guys. DeAnne also really likes toast and has a hard time maintaining talking about myself in the third person.
Melbourne musical comedy duo ElbowSkin started entertaining crowds in their high school days in Eltham, circa 1997. Almost two decades later Dave Elbow & Ernie Skin are regular fixtures in the Melbourne Comedy Festival and have serenaded and entertained audiences all over Australia and the world. Their cheeky brand of musical comedy has seen them emerge as one of the best musical headline acts in the country, performing in front of sell out crowds at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Melbourne & Adelaide Fringe Festivals, and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Rhys Nicholson (Australia)
Newcastle born and bred, Rhys Nicholson is one of Australia's most outstanding young comedians. A 2009 RAW Comedy finalist and winner of the 2012 Time Out Award for Best Newcomer at the Sydney Comedy Festival, Rhys' brand of wry humour and sardonic wit have developed his trademark for hilarious social commentary. A regular at the Sydney Comedy Store, Rhys has previously supported Greg Fleet, Jim Jeffries, Steve Hughes and Wil Anderson.
Wil Sylvince (USA)
Wil Sylvince is one of the most explosive comedians performing around the world today. His comedic performances on COMEDY CENTRAL, HBO'S DEF COMEDY JAM, and SHOWTIME all garnered standing ovations by the audiences, a feat rarely seen accomplished by many performers. Born and raised in Brooklyn, Sylvince has honed his act in New York's top comedy clubs - the Comedy Cellar, Comic Strip Live, Caroline's on Broadway, Stand-Up NY and the Gotham Comedy Club.
