Natalie Barr returns to celebrate the new BREC!

Bunbury's golden girl Natalie Barr, news presenter on Australia's favourite breakfast show Sunrise, is returning to her home town to join in the celebrations of BREC's Grand Opening Festival, which is being held throughout July.

"I'm hugely excited to be coming back to Bunbury to share in the excitement at the official opening of the new Entertainment Centre," she said.

"How things have changed since I grew up in Bunbury. This expansion and upgrade really puts the city on the entertainment map!"

Natalie will host two nights of celebrations for the official Grand Opening weekend - the Exclusive Black Tie Gala on Friday 25 July and the Community Concert on Saturday 26 July.

BREC General Manager Joel McGuinness said: "We're super excited to have Natalie Barr with us for two nights of celebrations. The Grand Opening weekend of the new Centre will be epic, and Natalie is the perfect host to be sharing this occasion with us.

"We think Nat's awesome so as a big thank you for her time, we are 'Naming a Seat' after her, and of course it's seat A7 in our new space, The Cube theatre".

For Natalie and the people of the South West, the new theatre promises a new era of entertainment in Bunbury.

"Growing up here, it was always frustrating that so many artists bypassed us… now the city has a wonderful new theatre to attract great entertainers," Natalie said.

A true community asset, the new BREC will benefit all sectors of the community. "It'll be such a great boost for the city of Bunbury and the surrounding shires, which have all come together to make this project happen," Natalie said.

Beginning in July, the month-long Grand Opening Festival will feature a series of events including large-scale performances by some of Australia's finest entertainers, sneak previews, guided tours of the venue, local performances, black tie soirees, workshops and more.

Full event information on the Grand Opening Festival will be released via our website soon. Tickets for the Grand Opening Community Concert presented by Alcoa of Australia go on sale at 9am on Friday 27 June.
